#Sisterly History

#Sisterly History promotes a project spearheaded by Yolanda Wisher, former Poet Laureate of Philadelphia (@yolandawisher), and Karina Puente (@karinapuentearts), a Visual Artist who “specializes in the art of well-being.”

#Sisterly History uses a laser-cutting process to transfer Puente’s original floral design cut pattern to fabric, illuminating a serving of each artist’s personal impact statement in a five-line poetic form: the tanka.

#Sisterly History stirs Wisher’s inventive vision with the slicing of Puente’s Papel Picado approach to cloth.

Seasoned with the power of language that connects nine women artists of color from the Germantown section of Philly to their creative practices, and garnished with funding, food, and energy, this project provides nine servings of an indoor artwork that can hang outdoors for special occasions such as photoshoots.
